Drawing on traditions that date back over 100 years, the Ski Club Arlberg pays particular attention to promoting young skiers. Throughout the Arlberg region more than 150 children are supervised by a team of highly successful and fully qualified trainers. These trainers introduce their students into the world of skiing with great sensitivity and intuition.
Training begins in summer with co-ordination exercises, mountain biking and many other sporting and social activities. Before the ski season starts in the Arlberg it is time for glacier training.
If you think that SCA youth training simply focuses on ski racing then you are mistaken. Trainers educate the children in free skiing, the use of avalanche rescue equipment, powder and ‘firn’ skiing, telemark skiing, snowboarding and many other interesting facets of snow sports. Under the auspices of the Newschool, the SCA also offers professional training in freestyle skiing.
The club’s comprehensive and innovative training program has made it a leader among Austrian sports associations. The SCA has a well-defined goal: to give young people in the Arlberg an in-depth and comprehensive education in snow sports. Skiing is one of the most important aspects of the Arlberg and young residents in the region need to be proficient in it.
