We’re ready for winter! SCA kids fit for the coming season!

  • Summer is over for our SCA racers, but at least they have an exciting season of summer training behind them.
A total of 29 kids took part in the summer training program, with the aim of improving their form for the coming winter.
Twice a week the kids worked on their endurance, co-ordination and strength.
Those children who are in the Regional Squad had an additional three regional training sessions per week. The older kids took part in the Arlberg Mini Murmel.
Silvano Marcher came fourth overall in the boys’ rankings, while Nina Ess took second place and Lena Ess fourth place in the girls’ rankings. In the last week of the holidays it was time to hit the snow again. The Hintertux Glacier provided perfect conditions for training basic technique and for stubby runs.

As in the last two years, the crowning finale of our active summer training program was the 3rd SCA Olympiade in arl.rock. The sports scientist, Georg Hamerle, challenged the kids with a series of exciting exercises. While the focus was on fine motor skills, the competition was also great fun. In the category of children born in the years 2003 to 2006, Selina Nardin secured victory before Paulina Spiss and Martin Korber. In the category of children born between 2007 and 2009, Martin Zangerl came first ahead of Florian Wiedemann and Isabella Mössmer.

The SCA trainer would like to thank all children and youths for coming to training and for their dedication. Sincere thanks go to all the parents, supporters and volunteers, who support the Ski Club Arlberg so well. Without your efforts, it would not be possible to organise such a great SCA summer program. At the end of October, the young racers will commence indoor training and glacier training in readiness for the coming winter season! Ski Heil!
