Partnership between the Ski Club Arlberg and Schlumberger extended

  • Schlumberger’s Grüner Veltliner "Schussfahrt"is the recently created Arlberg champagne. A few days ago at the first official inauguration ceremony, the Ski Club Arlberg President Josef Chodakowsky received the first special edition, magnum bottle of "Schussfahrt". At the same time, it was announced that the cooperation between the traditional Austrian champagne producers and the first Austrian ski club would be extended for a further five years. "Schussfahrt"in magnum bottles is made from the 100% pure, Austrian Grüner Veltliner grape variety and is exclusively available from the Ski Club Arlberg’s partner companies in Lech, Zürs, St. Christoph, St. Anton und Stuben.

    A Partnership based on Schussfahrt

For the last 6 years, the exclusive Arlberg champagne "Schussfahrt"has sealed the partnership between the Ski Club Arlberg and Schlumberger wine producers in a most stimulating way. The decision to extend the co-operation between these two historic organizations was celebrated with a new, special edition of Schlumberger’s  Grüner Veltliner "Schussfahrt", which turns Austria’s popular grape variety into an exclusive quality champagne for the Arlberg.

    Cooperation with History

The Arlberg is considered the "cradle of Alpine skiing"and is an extravagant and fun, winter sports region, well- known and well-loved far beyond the borders of Austria. The Ski Club Arlberg was established in the village of St. Anton am Arlberg in 1901 and is the oldest ski club in Austria, home to countless top athletes and Olympic medalists and an ambassador for Austria overseas.
As the most traditional champagne producer and largest exporter of champagne in Austria, Schlumberger, established in 1842, shares this mission and is extremely happy be the proud partner of the SCA and with the lasting cooperation between these two historic organizations. According to Schlumberger’s managing director, Dr. Arno Lippert, "With ‘Schussfahrt’ it is possible to celebrate at the Arlberg like a champion! Schlumberger has been supporting Austrian ski sports in the international ski circus for years with personalized champagne bottles at Austrian World Cup races. The cooperation with the Ski Club Arlberg and the club’s own special edition champagne fittingly honours the ‘cradle of alpine skiing’ as well. "

Austrian specialty champagne with an international format

Cooperation between the SCA and Schlumberger commenced in 2012, with the intention, among other things, of being able to offer regional restaurateurs and hoteliers a high-quality, Austrian champagne specialty for guests from around the world. The selection of Austria’s most popular and high quality Grüner Veltliner grape variety as the basis for the new Arlberg champagne makes a clear statement. This specialty champagne, produced using traditional methods of bottle fermentation, enables the SCA’s partner restaurateurs and hoteliers to serve their national and international guests an exclusive piece of Austria. The multiple award winning, pure variety Grüner Veltliner speciality from Schlumberger therefore fits perfectly to the legendary world of the Arlberg.

Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner "Schussfahrt "is only available in magnum size, which allows a slower and improved process of maturation. Thus it is not only ideal to enjoy on location in the Arlberg, but also to take home as a souvenir. The original label with a golden ‘Schussfahrt’ design and the SCA logo make the Arlberg champagne von Schlumberger particularly attractive.
