123rd Clubmeisterschaft at Zürs

The Ski-Club Arlberg presented its 123rd Club Championships in an exciting new format: a night giant slalom on the Zürs World Cup slope, followed by an exclusive after-race party at the Trittkopf mountain station, high above Zürs.

With a record field of 125 participants from various nations, including an athlete from Mexico, this club championship became an international highlight. Despite difficult weather conditions, the piste offered perfect conditions and the atmosphere among the participants and spectators was exuberant and enthusiastic.

The event offered an exciting competition with a strong turnout. Particularly noteworthy was the participation of many international competitors and members of all SCA local branches. The athletes had the unique opportunity to compete with countless very strong racers, including SCA coaches and former racers such as SCA board member and Olympic champion Patrick Ortlieb.

There were battles for the titles in various age groups, from youth to the over 80s. More than 10 teams competed against each other in the newly introduced team competition. The “SCAwesome” team from St. Anton narrowly beat the “Skilosophen” team from the Ski Austria Academy St. Christoph and the “Remus” team from Lech.

The highlight of the evening was the prize-giving ceremony at the after-race party at the Trittkopf mountain station. The BBQ Station team spoilt all the athletes with an outstanding buffet and provided an excellent setting for the event.

Patrick Bätz from St. Anton secured the title of club champion, while Nina Ess, who competed for the Ski Austria Academy team from St. Christoph, was crowned club champion. In addition to the trophy, both received the exclusive club champion waistcoat, a special symbol of success.

The prize-giving ceremony was organised by the SCA board members and offered an unforgettable experience in the unique atmosphere high above Zürs. On this occasion, the result of the new local centre ranking was also announced, in which the team from the St. Anton local centre came out on top ahead of the teams from Lech, Zürs and Stuben. Peter Mall, chairman of the St. Anton branch, accepted the challenge cup on behalf of the team.

The Ski-Club Arlberg would like to thank all participants, helpers and sponsors for an unforgettable race and is already looking forward to the next Club Championships.
