Inaugural Junior Freeride Competition at Rendl

The Stanton Freeride by Ski Club Arlberg competition took place under delightful conditions. Some 45 competitors from 6 nations took part and clearly demonstrated on Rendl how the Junior Freeriders are developing.

In the last two years, the Freeride team from the Ski Club Arlberg held internal Freeride Club Championships. In 2020, this event changed to an open Junior Freeride Event for girls and boys aged between 10 and 18 years, where competitors can collect points for the international Freeride rankings. Forty five competitors took part in the inaugural event. Originating from 6 nations, the participants were divided into 3 classes: U 14, U 16, U 18. The classes were subdivided into snowboard and ski categories.

The Ski Club Arlberg was represented at the start by 14 junior athletes, who were able to celebrate 6 top-three positions in the competition. The event was held at the Rifflbahn under perfect conditions. Before the competition, the junior athletes were able to inspect the course to plan their personal lines. The three largest rocks were closed for the Under 14 category. Afterwards the U 16 and U 18 demonstrated up to 6 meter high jumps and tricks in the playful landscape of the west of the slope.

The Ski Club Arlberg Freeride team, under the leadership of Stephan Hausl, would like to thank all volunteers and supporters. Particular thanks go to the St. Anton Mountain Rescue Association, Sport Jennewein, Intersport Arlberg, Sport Alber, Sport Pete, Arlrock, Arlpark and the Arlberg Cable Car Company.
