Partnership between the Ski Club Arlberg and Schlumberger

The partnership set up in 2012 between the Ski Club Arlberg and Schlumberger Wine Cellars has been extended for a further 5 years with the issue of a limited edition of Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner “Schussfahrt”, especially developed for the Ski Club Arlberg and presented in a 1.5 litre bottle.

The Arlberg’s sparkling wine, Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner “Schussfahrt”, was originally launched in 2018. The introduction of this product celebrated the decision to extend the co-operation between Austria’s oldest and most traditional sparkling wine cellars and Austria’s very first ski club for a further five years. “Schussfahrt” is a pure varietal, 100% Austrian Grüner Veltliner, and is available in a magnum exclusively at the partner businesses of the Ski Club Arlberg in Lech, Zürs, St. Christoph, St. Anton and Stuben.

Partnership Schussfahrt on Course for Success
“Schussfahrt”, the exclusive Arlberg sparkling wine, has sealed the partnership between the Ski Club Arlberg and Schlumberger in a sparkly manner for the last 8 years! The decision in 2018 to extend the co-operation between these two historical institutions was christened with a new, limited edition: Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner “Schussfahrt” – produced for the Arlberg, from Austria’s most significant grape variety, in the form of an exclusive, quality sparkling wine.

Co-operation with History
The Arlberg is considered the “Cradle of Alpine Skiing” and is known and loved far beyond the Austrian borders as an extravagant winter sport destination and a region of leisure. Established in 1901 in St. Anton am Arlberg, the Ski Club Arlberg is the oldest ski club in Austria and the home to countless successful athletes and Olympic medallists, and as such, a valuable ambassador for Austria overseas.

Schlumberger, established in 1842, is the most traditional sparkling wine producer in Austria and the nation’s leading exporter of sparkling wines, and is proud to be in partnership with the Ski Club Arlberg. Schlumberger‘s manager, Mag. Benedikt Zacherl, commented that: “With “Schussfahrt” one can celebrate like a champion at the Arlberg! For many years, Schlumberger has supported Austrian ski sports by providing personalised victory bottles at Austrian World Cup ski races on the international ski circuit. With this limited-edition sparkling wine and the co-operation with the Ski Club Arlberg, the ‘Cradle of Alpine Skiing’ is also fittingly celebrated. “

Austrian Sparkling Wine Specialities in an International Format
The co-operation between the SCA and Schlumberger, established in 2012, emerged from the desire to offer the regional restaurants and hotels a high-quality Austrian sparkling wine that they can serve to their guests from around the world. The selection of Austria’s most significant grape variety, Grüner Veltliner, for this new Arlberg sparkling wine makes a clear statement. With this speciality sparkling wine, made using traditional bottle fermentation, our partner restaurants and hotels can serve their national and international guests an exclusive taste of Austria. This pure varietal speciality, Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner, is therefore perfectly suited to the legendary world of sport and leisure in the Arlberg.

Schlumberger Grüner Veltliner “Schussfahrt” is only available in a magnum, enabling a slower and superior process of maturity. It is ideal to enjoy on location in the Arlberg or to take home as a souvenir: the unique, golden label with the Schussfahrt design and the SCA logo makes the Arlberg sparkling wine from Schlumberger an attractive gift.
